Create a SQL Server database on Samba share on Linux host
I want to create a SQL Server database on a Samba share on a Linux host.
The Samba share is accessible from the Windows machine where SQL Server is installed. It connects to the Samba share using a username on the Linux host. Since SQL Server uses its own service account, how can I make the service account logon to the Linux host with the username that has access to the Samba share?
I have looked at this:
Configure File System Permissions for Database Engine Access
But it only shows how to give permissions to the SQL Server account. I want the SQL Server account to actually use another account to logon to the Samba share.

You can change the service account to one that has access to your share.
SQL Server will not impersonate when opening database files, and there is no way to change it.

You can change the service account to one that has access to your share.
